Miami Metromover Becomes Silent Soul Train for the Night

The most popular dance party in Miami Thursday night took place in a very unusual place.

Riders on Downtown Miami's Metromover danced and partied while DJs spun their favorite tracks.

The creators of this new kind of party experience call it the Silent Revolution. And headsets are the technology behind the movement.

Michael Butler owns the wireless headphone company and says he's all about innovative entertainment ideas. That's why he partnered with the up and coming arts and entertainment district to create the "Miami Soul Train" event. It's a night where hundreds of people ride the Miami Metromover from stop to stop listening to their favorite music.

"We're actually able to offer users three different DJs at the same time," Butler said. "So on the headphones if you don't particularly like one DJ, you can switch the color on the headphones."

So essentially, you can have one person dancing disco, another dancing hip-hop and another dancing salsa all in the same space.

"The atmosphere... different cultures. Everyone is just blending in together having plain old fun," said Tilrona Garmon, who was enjoying the party.

"What we're trying to do is connect communities through the Metromover because I feel like a lot of people don't use the Metromover," Butler said.

"The idea is to try and create within the arts and entertainment district an urban village and one of the pillars of that urban village would be the Metromover station," added Nir Shoshani of NR Investments.

The group hopes to redefine the Miami nightlife scene while at the same time encourage a safe method of transportation. It's a concept that's already picked up traction with Thursday night's crowd.

"I think it's great. I think it's different for Miami. Miami's growing," said party-goer Manuel Perez.

Another event is already in the works at the beginning of next month. For more information, click here.
