Miami Police's Missing K-9 Found

A Miami Police K-9 that went missing has been found.

The dog, named Santa, had been last seen in the area of Southwest 127th Avenue and 104th Street, police said Wednesday.

Santa, a narcotics dog, has injuries on the neck area.

The K-9 was later found by a passerby and returned to the detective who works with her.

"She looks great, she looks great," the detective said. "I am really indebted to him, I appreciate what he did."

Juan Giraldo was on the way to his storage warehouse Wednesday morning when he saw the dog in the street.

"I was driving down Southwest 127th Avenue about 4.30 a.m. and she was going on and off the road and I almost hit her," Giraldo said. "And I stopped the car and called, she hopped right in the bed of my truck."

Giraldo brought Santa to a feed store to get supplies for her and a store employee recognized her.

"Well, I saw the dog coming down the stairs and I told a co-worker I recognize the dog from a Facebook post," Ann Rymestine said.

Santa was reunited with the detective. She is still recovering from a recent visit to the vet.
