Miami Teen, 16, Sentenced to 50 Years For 2015 Murder

A 16-year-old Miami boy has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for murder.

The Miami Herald reports that Juaquan Hall was sentenced late Friday, more than a year after his conviction in the August 2015 fatal shooting.

The victim, 20-year-old Ramiro "Tony" Izquierdo, was walking back from a market with his blind brother in Liberty City when he was killed. Hall was 14 at the time.

Prosecutors said Hall was one of two robbers who confronted the brothers, and an eyewitness identified him as the shooter who opened fire after the victims did not comply fast enough with their demands. Hall had also worn a distinct jacket that was found near the crime scene.

State law will make Hall eligible for possible release after 25 years in prison.
