Miramar Man Charged With Murder in Shooting Death of Wife

Brian Augustus Symonette charged with premeditated murder in death of Lisa Symonette

The husband of a woman found shot to death inside their Miramar home has been charged with murder in her death, police said Sunday.

Brian Augustus Symonette, 43, is charged with one count of premeditated murder, jail records showed. He was being held without bond Sunday and it was unknown whether he has an attorney.

His wife, 51-year-old Lisa Symonette, was shot to death inside their home in the 3400 block of Southwest 130th Avenue Saturday morning, Miramar Police said.

Police spokeswoman Tania Rues said Brian Symonette had called 911 to say his wife had been injured, but at one point during the call, he said she had died.

Lisa Symonette was pronounced dead at the scene. Brian Symonette was hospitalized Saturday before he was charged, police said.

The couple's 11-year-old son, who was home at the time of the incident, has been temporarily placed with family members, Rues said.
