A Jacksonville circuit judge is being investigated over allegations that he has made demeaning comments about women and said black people should "go back to Africa."
The Judicial Qualifications Commission late Tuesday told the state Supreme Court that probable cause exists to investigate Circuit Judge Mark Hulsey for violating misconduct rules.
The report states that during a conversation with a staff attorney, Hulsey said black people should "go get back on a ship and go back to Africa."
Hulsey also is accused of referring to a staff attorney as a "bitch," and another derogatory term, and of ordering his judicial assistant to perform personal tasks for him.
Hulsey was first elected as circuit judge in 2010, and is running this year for a second term.
