A money courier was hospitalized after he was shot during an armed robbery outside a popular Miramar restaurant late Wednesday night, police said.
The incident happened around 11:15 p.m. in the parking lot of The Licking at 12328 Miramar Parkway, Miramar Police spokeswoman Tania Rues said.
Rues said the courier just picked up cash from the restaurant when he was approached by the gunman, who demanded the money. The courier handed the money over but the suspect shot him multiple times.
The courier was airlifted to Memorial Regional Hospital in stable condition and was expected to survive, Rues said. His name wasn't released.
The suspect fled the scene in a 4-door maroon Nissan, possibly an Altima. Two other suspects, a man and a woman, were also in the car.
"It was not a significant amount of money, and it's quite unfortunate that someone would rob someone, he turned over the cash, he turned over the money and yet he was shot multiple times," Rues said.
