More Than 1,000 Palm Beach County Health Department Clients' Information Breached

More than 1,000 Palm Beach County Health Department clients are believed to have been victims of a data breach.

The department said in a news release Monday that the IRS and FBI contacted the agency in February and gave them a list of more than 1,000 people who had information stolen in the breach.

The county Health Department says notices have been mailed to all clients whose names were on the list.

Department officials didn't release details on how the breach occurred. The Justice Department didn't respond to a request for information from The Palm Beach Post.

Department spokesman Tim O'Connor advised everyone who has been a client in one of the health centers to review their credit history for any fraudulent or suspicious activities they haven't authorized.
