“Most Active Burglar” Caught Again: North Miami Beach Police

The 14-year-old has been arrested by the dept. 13 times since Nov. 2010, The Miami Herald reports

North Miami Beach Police say they again nabbed the city’s “most active burglar” – and he’s just 14, The Miami Herald reports.

He was taken into custody Feb. 22 after a neighbor saw him and a 16-year-old boy breaking into a home on the 2000 block of NE 181st Street, according to police. Nothing was taken, though the teenagers were seen removing knit gloves as they ran away, the Herald reported.

It was the 13th time the prolific burglar has been arrested by North Miami Beach Police in less than a year and a half, according to the newspaper.

His most lengthy punishment was 21 days at the Juvenile Assessment Center, as police said they have unsuccessfully tried to charge him as an adult.

His 16-year-old alleged accomplice has been arrested four times by the department since September.

“I’m shocked, not only by their age but how they knew how to get inside the house,” Mario Cuadros, whose home was the target of the Feb. 22 break-in, told the Herald. “They were prepared.”
