Mother Charged With Stabbing Daughter Makes First Court Appearance

A woman charged with stabbing her teen daughter during an argument at their Miami home made her first appearance in court Friday.

Odalys Rodriguez, 47, was ordered held on $7,500 bond at Friday's hearing. It's unknown if she has an attorney.

Rodriguez is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest without violence in the May 31 incident.

Police said Rodriguez had been arguing with her 18-year-old daughter when the argument escalated into a fight. Rodriguez armed herself with a knife and stabbed her daughter in the stomach and shoulder, according to police.

The teen, Sheila Barbara Sanchez Rodriguez, was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition. She required surgery for her stab wounds but was expected to recover, police said.

According to the arrest report, the two had an ongoing dispute about the daughter wanting to leave the house.
