Mother Pleads For Answers in Shooting Death of Teen Daughter in West Miami-Dade

Gabriela Aldana, 17, was shot and killed a week ago in a drive-by shooting

A mother is sharing her pain just days after her teen daughter was shot and killed at a busy South Florida strip mall.

Gabriela Aldana, 17, was shot and killed a week ago in a drive-by shooting, in the early hours of May 24. Her mother is pleading for anyone with information to come forward.

"She's my daughter, my life," mother Susana Martinez-Gispert said on Friday. "How is there still no information regarding, how, what, who did this to her?"

On Friday, Martinez-Gispert gazed at a police flyer with her dead daughter’s photo. It was a surreal moment that came after Gabriela was shot in a shopping center located on Coral Way and 118th Avenue around 2 a.m, police said.

"What we do know is that the victim was shot and killed, while standing in the parking lot. We’re just trying to find anyone who may have seen her to please give us a call,” said Det. Jessica Alvarez of Miami-Dade Police. “She was not the target. We are trying to search for a black Mercedes-Benz.”

“If someone saw something, please put your hand on your heart and remember how Gabriela was and allow justice to be done,” said Martinez-Gispert. “It’s all I ask.”

Police said there were between 30 and 40 people in the parking lot at the time of the shooting. They’re hoping witnesses will come forward and call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers. They can be reached at 305-471-TIPS.
