The mother and son duo accused in the shooting death of 13-year-old Hollywood boy surrendered to authorities Thursday morning to face charges.
Jeff Dilworth, 14, and mother Shari Edwards, 50, turned themselves in at the Broward Main jail just before 9 a.m. for the April 28 death of Daniel Torres.
Neither said a word as they walked past reporters and cameramen, holding hands on their way into jail.
Dilworth will face manslaughter charges while Edwards will face a culpable negligence charge, prosecutors said Wednesday.
A Broward judge set a $10,000 bond for Dilworth and $5,00 bail for his mom. Both are to stay away from guns and Dilworth is not allowed to leave his home.
Originally considered an accidental shooting, Dilworth had claimed that he accidentally shot Torres in the head while the two were playing with a loaded gun.
The two were at Dilworth's Hollywood home when they found his mom's 9mm pistol fully loaded in her nightstand.
Dilworth told police that he watched Torres unload the gun then took it from him. He squeezed the trigger and the bullet still in the chamber struck Torres in the back of the head.
A 911 call of the incident featured a frantic Dilworth pleading with the operator that it was an accident.
