Motorcycle Cop Involved in Crash in Hialeah

Hialeah Police arrested Mandy Pena on charges of robbery, grand theft, and narcotics possession after an accident involving multiple vehicles in Hialeah Thursday morning.

Police said the incident started when Pena was seen driving a stolen 2000 black Ford Focus near East 6th Avenue and East 9th Street in Hialeah. The officer turned on his lights and Pena continued driving crashing into four vehicles at the intersection of LeJeune Road and 9th Street.

A woman inside the Focus was also injured, but was not charged with a crime Thursday. Pena was also injured during the crash, but ran from the scene. No other drivers were injured in the crash.

Police said Pena then ran into a nearby residential area and broke into a home where he allegedly battered an elderly lady while her son tried to pull him off of her. Hialeah Police said Pena then ran to another nearby home where he hid in a trash can.

Pena was caught by police and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment of dog bites and injuries from the original crash.
