Motorcyclist Killed, Driver Arrested After Hit-and-Run Crash in Miami

Police have arrested a person they say was involved in a fatal early morning hit-and-run crash involving a motorcyclist.

Thirty-year-old Rey Villanueva's charges include DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene and reckless driving, according to the Miami Police Department. Attorney information for Villanueva was not immediately available.

Miami Police say the initial crash took place near the intersection of U.S. 1 and Southwest 17th Avenue around 7 a.m. Thursday.

A Miami-Dade Police officer and several rescue crews attempted to revive the victim before they were taken to Ryder Trauma Center, where they later died.

A short distance later, police found the suspected driver after his car crashed near Coral Way and Southwest 12th Avenue and flipped over, officials said.

Investigators have not released the identities of either the victim or the driver, as well as what charges the driver will face.
