Mount Sinai Mental Health Technician Accused of Sexual Battery of Patient

Christian Vidal, 42, was arrested Wednesday on a sexual battery charge

A mental health technician at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach is accused of sexually battering a patient.

Christian Vidal, 42, was arrested Wednesday on a sexual battery charge in the alleged incident that happened at the medical center back in November.

According to an arrest report, the alleged victim had been a patient at Mount Sinai's Mental Health Services Section. She claimed he entered her room while he was working and sexually battered her, the report said.

When he was interviewed by detectives in November, Vidal denied sexually battering the woman and said he had gone into her room to give her a remote control, the report said.

But according to the report, the victim went to a rape treatment center and a DNA specimen taken from Vidal "matched the standard that was submitted that was recovered from the victim."

When detectives advised Vidal of the DNA results on Wednesday, Vidal requested an attorney, the report said.

Vidal was booked into jail and later released on bond. Attorney information wasn't available.

"Mount Sinai’s top priority is the safety of our patients, visitors and employees. Mount Sinai Medical Center cannot comment on matters regarding patient privacy, ongoing investigations and legal proceedings," the center said in a statement Thursday. "To the extent that we are aware of an incident, the appropriate authorities are contacted immediately and have our full cooperation. Our relationship with the Miami Beach Police Department and all first responder teams across the county is without parallel."
