Murder Suspect Found Asleep With Woman Stabbed to Death Inside Home

Miami-Dade Police detectives discovered a heinous crime scene early Sunday morning at a home in Westchester.

After a 911 call was made about a brutal beating, responding officers were met with a woman lying in a pool of blood in the bathroom at the home located on Southwest 6th Street and 96th Court.

According to a police report, the woman, identified as Yanes Hernandez, had multiple stab wounds.

The person detectives say was responsible for the gut-wrenching crime, was discovered asleep a few feet away in a bedroom.

According to a police report, the suspect, Roberto Salabarria-Rodriguez, was armed with a knife when he attacked the victim.

A witness described the violent attack before the woman was killed.

The witness told police the victim was in a verbal dispute with the suspect, before he started to choke and beat the woman, police said.

The witness fled the home to call for help. When officers arrived, they had to force their way into the home.

That's when they found the Salabarria-Rodriguez asleep in his bedroom and Hernandez stabbed to death on the floor.

Salabarria-Rodriguez confessed to the slaying, police said. He was charged with second degree murder.

Police have not revealed the relationship between the suspect and victim.

Investigators are searching for a motive.
