Murder Suspect to State Attorney: Losing Casey Anthony Case Made You “Look Bad”

David Damus told State Attorney Jeff Ashton, lead prosecutor in the Casey Anthony case, that losing the Anthony trial made him ``look bad'' and added that the prosecutor wouldn't look good if he ``turned out to be innocent.''

A murder suspect took the stand during his trial and had a heated exchange with State Attorney Jeff Ashton, who was the lead prosecutor in the Casey Anthony case.

David Damus told Ashton on Wednesday that that losing the Anthony trial made him ``look bad'' and added that the prosecutor wouldn't look good if he ``turned out to be innocent.'' Anthony was acquitted in 2011 of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in 2008.

The Orlando Sentinel reports Circuit Judge Jon Morgan interrupted, telling 22-year-old Damus and Ashton to speak in turn.

Damus is accused of fatally shooting and stabbing a 22-year-old man during a home invasion. He says he was an innocent bystander who didn't know his friends planned the robbery.

Jury deliberations begin Thursday morning.
