National Signing Day Showcases Hundreds of Local Athletes Signing With College Programs

Across South Florida, hundreds of high school athletes will be signing papers to continue playing the sport of their choice at the next level – while getting a college education.

National Signing Day is taking place at high schools across the area. Athletes in sports from football to soccer and so many more are signing letters of intent to continue their career at colleges across the country.

Of course, football is the sports mostly attached to the ceremonial day that takes place during the first Wednesday of February. While high schools are celebrating their athletes getting a free education in most cases, fans of college programs across the state are also paying attention to see how their teams will reload with talent.

The Miami Hurricanes, coming off their first bowl win in a decade, are looking forward to having one of the top classes in the ACC, while both FIU and Florida Atlantic will be welcoming their first classes under new head coaches – Butch Davis and Lane Kiffin, respectively.

Around the state, the Florida State Seminoles are expected by many to have one of the top classes nationally for another year – while the Florida Gators are projected to have one of the top classes in the SEC.

Players from both Miami-Dade and Broward counties have committed to playing for state schools and those around the country – including Michigan, Ohio State, USC and more.
