New Details in 2007 Murders of Mother, Daughter in Boca Raton

The FBI has stepped up its efforts to find the person who killed a mother and her daughter at a high-end South Florida mall.

On Dec. 12, 2007, the pair was found shot to death in a car at Boca's Town Center. Eight years later, their murders remain unsolved.

Police said someone abducted Nancy Bochicchio and her daughter, Joey. Their bodies were discovered in the mall's parking lot, hands bound with plastic ties and duct tape over their mouths.

"Maybe someone knows something, directly or indirectly. We always talk about people of interest, maybe someone who's not directly involved heard something or is aware of something they can share with us. That's why we're here today," said Boca Raton Police Chief Dan Alexander.

Investigators announced two new bits of information about the case on Tuesday: They have upped the reward by $50,000 to $400,000. They also said the plastic ties and duct tape the killer used on his victims were purchased in Miami-Dade County.

Along with the fact that Nancy's credit card and cellphone were found in Miami, it looks like the killer has Miami connections. Those were reason enough for the FBI to call the news conference Tuesday.

"It's about putting a new set of eyes on this older investigation and not forgetting the two people who were murdered that day," said FBI Special Agent Michael D'Alonzo.

Nancy's parents were at the news conference, but did not speak, allowing their lawyer to make a statement for them: "We hope that getting this out there will help solve this heinous crime."

"We're here for two reasons today, that's these two people, Nancy and Joey. I've been in this business for over 25 years, and some things stay with you. This stays with me. This was personal to us. I want to thank you again for covering this for us," Chief Alexander said.

If you have any information about this case, call police immediately.
