Hagrid Motorbike Adventure to Break Roller Coaster Records

Muggles, get ready.

Universal Orlando’s latest rollercoaster seems to be the closest thing to a Care of Magical Creatures class we’ll get.

But that’s not all, Harry Potter fans. In addition to rare beasts, close encounters with Blast Ended Skrewts, and a high-speed journey through the Forbidden Forest, “Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure” ride is also set to break some records, according to a press release.

The new “storycoaster’ will feature the most launches of any roller coaster in the world – seven to be exact – and will be the first roller coaster in the United States to feature a free-fall vertical drop. At nearly a mile in length, it’s also set to be the longest roller coaster in Florida.

The “highly themed, immersive coaster” will twist, turn and even move backwards at speeds of up to 50 mph, according to a March press release. Rare magical creatures like Cornish Pixies, Devil’s Snare, and even Fluffy the Three-Headed Dog will make appearances throughout the ride.

The attraction is being branded as a “story coaster” because of “innovate technology that is integrated so seamlessly into the surrounding environments,” the release said. The set includes a real forest with 1,200 live trees, and coaster carts are modeled after Hagrid’s motorcycle – adjacent sidecar and all.

The latest addition to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open on June 13th.

Universal Studios is owned by NBCUniversal, the same company which owns and operates WTVJ.
