New Passport Feature Coming To Miami International Airport App

A new passport feature is coming to Miami International Airport’s mobile app, the first of its kind for the South Florida airport and other airports around the world.

The feature will be available to U.S. citizens and Canadian visitors who want an easy way to clear passport control at MIA, a statement from the Miami-Dade Aviation Department said. Users who download the official airport app -- MIA Airport Official -- will be able to use the integrated passport feature.

“Previously, the only option travelers had to clear passport control via mobile device was to download the separate Mobile Passport Control app,” the statement said.

The department said MIA will be the first airport in the world to introduce integrated passport control screening into its mobile app. The department and officials from U.S. Customs and Border Control will present the technology and demonstrations of the app during a press conference at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
