New Traffic Pattern Causes Headaches, Near Crashes Along Busy SW Miami-Dade Roadway

What to Know

  • Officials have not released any information on possible crashes that took place Monday morning.

Drivers along one major roadway in Southwest Miami-Dade dealt with quite the change during their commute to work Monday with a new pattern to their drive that caused a level of morning chaos.

Starting this weekend, the route changed along the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike at the Don Shula Expressway with the three right lanes now becoming off-ramp lanes – a direct change from last week when it was the three left lanes that led to the new roadway.

Despite numerous warnings throughout the weekend, drivers traveling along the roadway during the morning rush hour were going across the multiple lanes of the Turnpike – in some areas, drivers had to slam on their breaks to avoid causing a potential crash.

Officials have not released any information on possible crashes that took place Monday morning.
