Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys Gets Community Service After Key West Bar Fight

New details have been released surrounding the Key West case against Nick Carter, a member of the Backstreet Boys.

To avoid trial and eventually drop his misdemeanor battery charge, the 36-year-old singer will complete 25 hours of community service and spend six months under court supervision. He also owes just under $300 in fees.

The incident happened back in January at Hog's Breath Saloon.

According to a Key West Police report, a bartender refused to serve Carter and Michael Rae Papayans of Palos Verdes Estates, California, who became agitated and aggressive. The bar's staff repeatedly told both men to leave.

Once outside, Papayans head-butted one employee and Carter then grabbed a bouncer by the throat, according to the report.

A lawsuit against Carter is pending.

The "Dancing With the Stars" contestant has had previous brushes with the law. He was arrested following an incident at a Florida nightclub in 2002 and in 2005 he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
