Pawn shop employee turns tables on would-be robber

An employee of a North Miami pawn shop turned the tables on a would-be robber, opening fire on the suspect and chasing him off, police said Tuesday.

Police say the owner of American Pawn at 13007 Northwest 7th Street shot at robbery suspect Jeffrey D. Moore, 20, who quickly fled the area.

The incident began when an employee confronted Moore, who was armed, and a struggle ensued to get ahold of the weapon. Moore was then shot by the employee, and he ran away and hid in an adjoining residential neighborhood until he was located by the police, authorities said.
