Nuts! Miami Company Recalls Pistachios

Pulls product due to health concern

A Miami nut company is recalling its pistachio products due to a health concern.

Barnard Nut Company says the nuts may be part of the recall by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. That was due to contamination with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.

Barnard Nut Company issued the recall Wednesday, but said no illnesses have been reported.

Consumers who have purchased products such as Nuts About Florida Pistachios or La Botana de Don Pepe Pistachios with an expiration date on or before Oct. 15, 2009 should return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

Or call the Barnard Nut Company at 305-836-9999.
