Obama Deputy Speaking at Hispanic Heritage Event at UCF

UCF is getting a visit from the Obama administration to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month.

Marco A. Davis, the deputy director for the White House Initiative on Education Excellence for Hispanics, is speaking at UCF Monday afternoon. The event is slated for noon to 2 p.m. in the Pegasus Ballroom in the Student Union on UCF's main campus. It is free and open to the public.

Davis was named to his position in January 2012 and helps carry out President Obama's efforts to improve the academic achievement of the nation's Hispanic students.

The Hispanic American Student Association is hosting the program, with the Student Government Association, UCF Community Relations, and Rocha Financial Group as sponsors.

UCF's Latin Rhythm and Pleneros de la Central are scheduled to perform during the program.
