Offense Comes Alive For Panthers in Anaheim

The Panthers scored a season-high 6 goals in Sunday's win over the Anaheim Ducks

Offense has been a problem for the Florida Panthers this season but that changed during Sunday's 6-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.

The six goals are a season-high for Florida and come after a stretch where the team had lost four of its last five games. With the win, the Panthers are now 6-4-5 and have 17 points this season.

The scoring started early for Florida when Vincent Trocheck picked up his first goal of the year only a little more than four minutes into the game. Trocheck's goal was assisted on by Tomas Kopecky and Scottie Upshall.

Florida did the majority of its work in the second period when four goals were scored. The first of the period came courtesy of Brad Boyes after about a minute of play. That goal which Jonathan Huberdeau and Nick Bjugstad assisted on was the third of the season for Boyes and only his first of the period.

Less than three minutes later, Nick Bjugstad put his third goal of the season into the net to make it a 3-1 game. Jussi Jokinen and Brian Campbell picked up assists on the goal. Jokinen has eight assists this year which leads the team.

At the 10:02 mark of the second period, Jonathan Huberdeau made it a 4-1 game with his goal which Aaron Ekblad and Bjugstad picked up assists on. The last goal of the period was a power play goal from Boyes. Jokinen and Campbell assisted on that goal as well.

With a big lead already, Florida padded it once more in the third period when Bjugstad scored his second goal of the game. Boyes and Dylan Olsen were credited with assists for the sixth and final Florida goal of the day.

Al Montoya made the start at goalie and fared much better than his last start. Montoya who allowed five goals last Saturday saved 33 of his 35 chances in this game.

Sean Bergenheim was once again scratched with a lower body injury while Dmitri Kulikov missed another with a knee injury.

The Panthers will continue their four-game road trip on Tuesday with a game against the Los Angeles Kings.
