A man was fatally shot during an altercation with a West Palm Beach Police officer.
Police chief Bryan Kummerlen says the shooting happened about 7 p.m. Saturday after the officer responded to a report of a stolen bicycle. The Palm Beach Post reports the confrontation became violent and Kummerlen says the officer drew his Taser to stun the man, but the man in turn pulled out a gun and fired at the officer.
The officer wasn't hit by the bullet. He fired back and the man was later pronounced dead.
