Officer Hurt in Crash With Teen Driver: Miami-Dade Police

A police officer and a woman were hospitalized after a crash in southwest Miami-Dade Monday evening, authorities said.

A police officer and a woman were hospitalized after a crash in southwest Miami-Dade Monday evening, authorities said.

The crash happened around 5:40 p.m. in the 15700 block of Southwest 104th Street when a car struck a marked police car, Miami-Dade Police said.

According to police, a 15-year-old girl was driving the car with another 15-year-old girl in the passenger seat and a 69-year-old woman in the backseat.

The car was trying to make a left turn onto Southwest 104th Street from Southwest 157th Avenue when she struck the cop car.

The officer and 69-year-old woman were both taken to Kendall Baptist Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The driver was cited for failure to yield right of way and failure to have an adult as the front passenger with a valid driver’s license.

Police are still investigating the incident.
