Police are investigating if an early morning fire that broke out inside of a Lauderhill apartment complex was intentionally set.

Crews responded to the complex located off Northwest 46th Avenue shortly after the fire was reported from a second floor unit around 2 a.m.

Neither of the two people who live inside the apartment were there at the time of the fire, but officials cleared units surrounding it for hours while fighting the initial blaze.

Investigators say officers were at the home Tuesday after a verbal altercation was reported, but did not confirm if an arson occured at this time.
