One Person Dead After Wrong Way Crash on Major Miami-Dade Roadway

One person was killed after what police say was a wrong way crash in Northwest Miami-Dade that closed a major roadway Monday morning.

Crews responded to the scene near US 441 and Northwest 77th Street just after 6 a.m. Chopper 6 was over the scene, where two cars could be seen heavily damaged and police were blocking traffic in both directions.

According to preliminary information from Miami Police, a silver Kia was traveling north in the southbound lanes of US 441 when it collided head-on with a red BMW. One person died at the scene.

Miami Fire Rescue took two people to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition. Officials did not say which car the deceased person was driving nor release their identity.

US 441 remained closed between Northwest 75th Street and 77th Court while officials continue their investigation and cleanup, opening up shortly before 11 a.m.
