Police investigate triple-shooting at football party

Emotions ran high as police tried to investigate the murder of a man who was gunned down in the front yard of a Miami Gardens home Sunday just steps away from where friends and family were enjoying the Super Bowl.

The shooting happened on 23rd Court and 204th Street around 6 p.m.

"My husband was here, I told him to head on to the Super Bowl party. I was at the house, he called me and told me about the chaos and that someone got shot," said Edwina Howard, who had planned to attend the party at her daughter's house.

The triple shooting took the life of a man loved ones identified as Brandon Bryant, a father of two. Friends say he had kissed his young sons goodbye before heading to the party, telling their babysitter he was coming back shortly.

The mother of Bryant's children wept uncontrollably in a car. The victim's father and his older brother were also shot, and rushed to Jackson Memorial's Ryder Trauma Center.

"I just feel feel bad for the mothers, everyone was just trying to have a good time," said Howard.

Neighbors describe hearing dozens of shots in the area.

"It looks at this point like a drive by shooting," said Miami Gardens Police Chief Ralph Suarez. "It looks like they were intended targets, by the looks of the evidence on the scene, we have over 50 rounds that were shot."

Howard laments it was supposed to be a night of football, food, and fun but instead the neighborhood became the spectacle.

"This drive-by stuff it's just got to stop. It's so crazy," she said.

At last check one of the victims was listed in critical condition. The other is expected to be ok.
