One Person Dead After Standoff with Miami-Dade Police

One officer was grazed by a bullet on the torso.

A man was found dead inside a closet in a Kendall apartment after a police standoff Sunday morning.

According to Miami-Dade police, the incident began when a mother called the cops on her son. They say she told officers her son was possibly on drugs and had become violent, damaging the home before officers arrived.

The mother was escorted from the home by police as they attempted to calm the son down.

That's when officers say the son barricaded himself inside the unit at Waterford Point complex, near Kendall Drive, and began firing at police.

One officer was grazed by a bullet on the torso. He was treated and cleared on scene.

Police say the son was pronounced dead on scene after being found unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound.
