Two People Killed in Crash in SW Miami-Dade

Two people are dead following a car accident in Southwest Miami-Dade.

The incident happened Saturday night at SW 40th Street and SW 92nd Avenue.

According to police, one person was killed, and another person was taken to the hospital, who later died. Two others were treated on the scene for their injuries.

The two victims killed were identified as Mario Luis Gomez, 82 and Alcides Joaquin Gomez, 85.

Surveillance cameras were rolling when a Nissan turned onto Bird Road near 92nd Avenue Saturday night. Moments later, a Cadillac crossing the intersection appears to have some time to brake and slam into the Nissan.

"We all just turned around like 'Oh my gosh! What's going on?' and then we see the Cadillac pull up," said Evan Jimenez, a witness to the crash.

The Nissan then catapulted over the median and into oncoming traffic.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
