The shooter is at large and the motive is unknown

A pregnant mother died and her daughter was wounded after a shooting Monday night in Opa-locka.

The shooting occurred before 7 p.m. in the 2500 block of Superior Street. Opa-locka Police Department spokesperson James Dobson confirmed an adult female died on the scene and another victim, a minor, was hospitalized.

The victims were identified by family as 33-year-old Quantia Curry Golden and 13-year-old C'lexus Richardson. Golden was three months pregnant.

"She was very excited," said Gladiest Barnes, Golden's mother.

Golden had just left work at North Shore Hospital and was in a car with her daughter when the shooting happened.

Richardson was shot in the shoulder and airlifted to the hospital. Her family said she is getting surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.

"I lost one of my children in 2011 because of gun violence," Barnes said. "When is it gonna end?"

The shooter is at large and the motive is unknown. The shooting is under investigation.
