Crews spent much of Friday morning responding to a major crash involving an 18-wheeler and at least one other car on the Florida Turnpike northbound in Miramar.
Miramar Fire Department says the crash occurred on the Turnpike north ramp to Exit 47 Turnpike in Miramar. The off-ramp is closed.
Motorists were advised to use University Drive north to Hollywood Boulevard as their alternate.
The crash occurred just after 6 a.m. Friday morning, according to officials.
Officials say one person had to be extricated from one of the vehicles. That patient was taken via ground transport to Memorial Regional Hospital.
Their condition is not immediately known. It is also not immediately known if there were any additional injuries as a result of the crash.
Aerial footage showed crews pulling the big rig upright to remove it from the road. The scene has since been cleared.
