Owner Seeks Safe Return of Puppy Stolen From Car in Aventura

A Florida man's Belgian Malinois puppy was stolen on Christmas Eve and he is urging for his safe return by offering a reward.

The puppy, Schiele, named after famed painter Egon Schiele, was taken from his owner's car after a suspect or suspects smashed the car's window.

"I left him in the car just to go pick up this heavy grill. Went in, bought it and came out and the window was smashed, and he was gone," Schiele's owner, Ryan Merak, said. "In the middle of organizing everything for Christmas for me and my dogs, this happens."

The theft occurred at the West Marine parking lot located at 17641 Biscayne Boulevard in Aventura.

"The whole energy of my house has changed without him. It's not the same," his owner said. "I feel the lack of his presence all the time. I haven't really slept in three days – I just want my son back."

A briefcase was also stolen in the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. A $2,000 reward is available.
