Pair Charged in Murder of Cutler Bay Man

Woman paid and offered to marry man if he helped to kill her estranged boyfriend: Police

A man and woman are facing murder charges after police say she offered to pay him and marry him for permanent residency status if he killed her ex-boyfriend.

Jose Martin Perez-Sanchez, 21, and Dianelis de la Caridad-Fonseca, 22, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Richard Vasallo, Miami-Dade Police said Friday.

According to an arrest affidavit, de la Caridad-Fonseca arranged to pay $600 to Perez-Sanchez, a Mexican national, and engage in an arranged marriage to establish permanent U.S. residency in exchange for killing Vasallo.

De la Caridad-Fonseca lured Vasallo to a desolate area where she and Perez-Sanchez killed Vasallo, fatally wounding him utilizing sharp force trauma, the affidavit said.

According to police, a passerby spotted Vasallo walking on the street bleeding Wednesday night in the area of Southwest 98th Court and 216th Street in the Montego Bay subdivision in Cutler Bay.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue workers responded and Vasallo was later pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the affidavit, de la Caridad-Fonseca and Perez-Sanchez both confessed to the killing.

They were ordered held in jail without bond in court on Friday.
