Pair Robbed Miami Shores Pizza Hut at Gunpoint

Police are looking for two armed men who robbed a Miami Shores Pizza Hut in a violent robbery caught on camera.

The robbery happened Thursday night at the restaurant at 8900 Biscayne Boulevard, police said.

According to police, the two men entered the store and jumped over the counter, yelling obscenities at the woman behind the counter and telling her they would shoot her. The woman was able to hit the panic button under the counter.

The suspects demanded the worker lock the door and open the safe, and dragged her by the hair. The woman told them only her manager could open the safe.

The gunmen forced five employees into a small supply room where they demanded that they all empty their pockets. One of the workers was hit on the shoulder by one of the suspects to try to push him to the ground and another was struck in the face with the butt of a gun, police said.

Police said the suspects tried to wrap duct tape around several of the employees and tie them with a nylon rope. They demanded the manager open the safe and she entered the code but told them there was a fifteen minute delay.

"they were trying to get into the safe and there was a delay, they got spooked, two robbers and they held some of the employees at gunpoint and taped them up," Miami Shores Police spokesman Kevin Lystad said.

The suspects then pressed their guns to her head and demanded her belongings. The suspects then fled out the front door leaving behind a blue duffel bag with a roll of duct tape and some rope inside, police said.

Officers arrived and set up a perimeter but weren't able to locate the suspects. Police said two employees suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

The suspects got away with $43 from the cash register but not much else. They dropped cell phones purses and wallets as they fled the scene.
