A Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy is facing multiple child pornography charges after detectives say they found more than 30 illicit images and videos on his cellphone and laptop.
Deputy Adam Godbey was arrested Thursday on 30 charges of possession of obscene material depicting child sexual conduct, Palm Beach County jail records showed.
Detectives found the images and videos of child pornography on a cellphone and laptop inside his home, according to an arrest report obtained by WPTV. The electronics were hidden on top of a kitchen cabinet, the report said.
Godbey appeared in court Friday morning, where he was ordered by a judge to undergo a mental health evaluation. He was being held without bond.
Godbey, who was hired by the department in June 2013, was placed on paid administrative leave. He had been recognized by the sheriff's department in a press release for rescuing a kitten from under a car in May 2015.
