Panhandle Police Officer, Wife Rescue Baby from Hot Van

A police officer and his wife are credited with saving a 10-month-old girl who had been left in a van parked outside a supply store in the Florida Panhandle.

The Northwest Florida Daily News reports Chipley Police Officer Tyler Brannon and his wife Amanda had stopped at the Tractor Supply store in DeFuniak Springs on Saturday and heard a noise that sounded like a screaming cat. They looked in a van parked outside the store and saw the little girl.

DeFuniak Springs police Capt. Mike Lolley says the child had been in the car 10 to 15 minutes. The child's baby-sitter told police she and a friend were shopping and forgot the baby.

Lolly said it was determined to be an accident. The child is expected to be OK.
