If you plan on traveling to Opa Locka any time soon, make sure to wear a belt.

City officials toughened their already strict fashion rules by adding a $250 fine to anyone caught with saggy pants in city limits. Violators could also opt for 10 hours of community service.

Pants on the Ground

The fashion police will be on high alert in city-owned places like parks and schools.

The unanimous vote Wednesday night would have made General Larry Platt proud and could pave the way for the American Idol wannabe to make a run at mayor.

Other cities in Florida have tried the droopy drawers law, but so far there is no evidence that higher britches translates into less crime and more community pride as many advocates of the laws proclaim.

State legislators even tried to bring the fashion police into schools.

To be on the safe side, it is a lot cheaper to buy a belt.
