Parkland Artist Painting Each Victim of School Shooting Tragedy

  • Most victims of the Feb. 14 shooting were teenage students.
  • The local artist hopes to illustrate a portrait of each victim.

A local artist in Parkland is painting portraits of each victim of the shooting tragedy to help heal her community.

Nava Lundy's in-home studio is near the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where on Feb. 14 a gunman shot and killed 17 people.

"I'm thinking about how much life they had left to live," Lundy said of the victims. "My goal is to comfort the families."

Lundy is working on her fifth painting and will continue to finish the other 12.

"We are all connecting to these families and want to help in any way possible," Lundy added. "This is what I'm trying to do."
