A teacher at a Pembroke Pines school was arrested after he was accused of sending pornography and sexual messages to one of his students, police said Monday.
Sylvers Robinson, 29, was arrested Monday at Harvard International Academy, where he is a 3rd and 4th grade teacher, Pembroke Pines Police said.
Robinson is charged with transmission of harmful material to a minor, promoting sexual performance and using a computer to seduce a child.
Police said Robinson began to take a special interest in the 14-year-old male student by making comments about his clothing and standing close to him. At one point, Robinson took the boy's phone and requested him to follow his Instagram account, and was able to get the boy's phone number, police said.
Robinson began to send the boy inappropriate and sexual message and also sent the boy multiple images of pornography, police said. He also solicited the boy to send him explicit photos of himself, police said.
After he was taken into custody, Robinson admitted to the charges, saying he had the boy's best interest at heart and was only trying to befriend him, police said.
Robinson was booked into jail. Attorney information wasn't immediately available.
