Police shot and killed a woman with a pellet gun Monday afternoon in a Miami Shores neighborhood.
Miami Shores police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded at around 4:15 p.m. to a neighborhood on Northwest 95th Street near Interstate 95.
Officers found a woman outside of the house with a pellet gun, the Miami Shores Police Department said.

After a dialogue with the woman, an officer fired their gun, striking the woman.
The woman did not shoot at the officers.
βThe weapon was pointed toward the officer, the officer felt for his safety and fired at the victim," Miami Shores Police Chief Kevin Lystad said.

There have been a number of calls over the years at this particular location for various reasons, Lystad said.
Police have not released the identity of the woman. A family friend said she was in her late 40s and had past issues with her mental health.
