Photographers Take Viral Photos of Alligator Eating Snake in Central Florida

What to Know

A couple in Central Florida snapped quite the photo this weekend – as a giant alligator was enjoying their lunch of a snake inside of an animal reserve.

Linda Waring and her husband, Jesse, from Bird Walk Photography posted the photos to social media from Saturday inside the Circle B Bar Reserve near Lakeland – with the three photos showing the progression of lunch between the two animals in the water.

“The snake was giving it his all to escape from the jaws of the gator,” said Waring. “The gator would chomp down and close his mouth and each time it seemed like the end. Then when he opened his jaws, the snake was still trying to fight his way out!”

Waring said her husband and her both waited about 10 minutes for the battle to come to an end - estimating the gator was between eight and 12 feet long – but made sure to snap the magical photos of lunch taking place.

“I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, but I didn’t want to miss anything,” Waring added. “I definitely got more than I expected!”
