Authorities released on Monday mug shots of the two South Floridian brothers who were arrested on charges they conspired to support terrorism.
Raees Alam Qazi, 20, and Sheheryar Alam Qazi, 30, of Oakland Park were taken into custody Thursday by the FBI, prosecutors said.
They were charged with one count of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and one count of conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction, an indictment said.
The brothers allegedly conspired to provide resources for the purpose of terrorism, including funding, lodging, communications equipment and transportation, from last year until November 2012, according to Annette Castillo, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.
They also allegedly conspired to use explosives against “persons and property within the United States,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A three-page federal indictment released Friday provided few details about the alleged plot of the Pakistani brothers – both of whom are U.S. citizens and lived in an apartment complex west of Interstate 95 off West Oakland Park Boulevard, records show.

They are both in custody at the Broward County Main Jail on a U.S. Marshals Service hold, online Broward Sheriff’s Office records say.
Sheheryar Alam Qazi's attorney, Ronald Chapman, did not immediately return a call for comment Monday. Assistant Federal Public Defender Daryl Wilcox declined to comment on Raees Alam Qazi's behalf on Friday, saying he was not authorized to do so.
Both are due in federal court for a pretrial detention hearing on Friday, court records show.
