Pickup Truck Catches Fire on NB Turnpike in Boca Raton

A pickup truck was on fire in the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike just before Glades Road in Boca Raton Friday morning.

This was just after 7:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Three men said they were on a way to a job from Doral to West Palm Beach when they were hit by another car.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said a drunk driver swerved into the pickup truck, sending a spark to the gas tank.

"I could've just died, I got hit by a car and the thing caught fire," said Carlos Soto, who was driving the truck.

Soto and his coworkers weren't injured.

Officials said the driver of the other car, a Chevy Malibu, was 34-year-old Nina Marie Rodriguez, of Boynton Beach. Her blood alcohol level was .116, officials said.

Rodriguez was arrested on DUI charges and taken to a nearby hospital. She was later booked into the Palm Beach County Jail where she was being held without bond late Friday. It was unknown if she has an attorney.
