Pit Bull-Dachshund Mix Dog Goes Viral on Social Media

A mixed-breed dog with a rather unique look is getting a lot of attention on social media.

The Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society in Georgia posted pictures of Rami, a 1-year-old Dachshund/Pit Bull mix, to their Facebook page. It took less than 24 hours for the photos to go viral.

"We posted a photo of him when he became available, and within a day it went to 1 million hits," said shelter employee Dawn Blanton. "By that night it was up to 2 million. And now it is over 2.4 million hits."

Rami has what Blanton describes as a "true Pit Bull head on a Dachshund's body." The dog is fully-grown at 25 pounds.

The shelter has received so many inquiries about the dog that they say they will take their time sorting through applications. Humane Society employee Don Flowers said they want to find adopters who will not try to exploit Rami for his one-of-a-kind looks.

"It will be a pretty tough test for people wanting this dog," Flowers said. "They're going to have to answer questions, we're going to do follow-up inspections on him, go out to peoples' homes if they're close by and verify that dog is okay."
