Plantation City Councilman Jerry Fadgen Dies at 72 After Accident at Home

A longtime member of the Plantation city council died Monday after falling from a ladder while trimming a tree at his home.

Jerry Fadgen, who spent over 20 years as a member of the governing body in the city he lived in for nearly four decades, was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. He was 72.

Fadgen was first elected to the council in 1995, serving until 2011 before being elected again in 2013. He had run three times before he was eventually elected for the council in addition to bids for both the Florida House and the U.S. House.

Fadgen, who was a certified public accountant, was reportedly set to make a third run for mayor of Plantation according to a former councilman's comments to the paper.

Fadgen leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Kathy, and two sons.
