Police: 3 Officers on Leave After Shooting Woman in Chase

Orlando Police say three officers are on administrative leave after they fired at a woman involved in a carjacking.

According to police, a white woman and two black men stole a car Friday. Officers cornered the car in a parking lot several hours later.

Police spokeswoman Michelle Guido said in an email Saturday that Sgt. Steve Farris, Officer Justin Lay and Officer Clarence Eide opened fire when 34-year-old Danielle Evans accelerated toward them.

Guido says Evans suffered a gunshot wound in her shoulder. Evans was charged with carjacking with a firearm and aggravated fleeing with injury or damage.

Guido says Evans also will be charged with attempted murder. Orange County jail records didn't show whether Evans had an attorney.

Guido says two men in the car were questioned but no additional arrests were made.
